Cuba has been on top of my bucket list for quite some time now, so when my friend, who happens to be a singer, ask me if I would like to take pictures for his album in Cuba, the answer was Yes! I was excited to be going to Cuba but I’m not going to lie I was also a little scare just because I did not know what to expect. Most of the things that I have heard about Cuba have been negative, so I was expecting to go to this country and find people who were unhappy, boy was I wrong! The people of Cuba have been one of the most welcoming people I have met. Yes, you will have people trying to hustle you but just a simple, No Gracias and they will leave you alone : ) It also seemed that everywhere I turn someone was asking me if I needed a taxi, I was at the point where I was going to wear aNo Gracias(No Thanks) sign! Other then that, It was one of the best vacations I have ever have. I felt very safe here, we would often be out walking very late and nobody would bother us.
When I was looking for a hotel, all the hotels were booked so I rented a private apartment though AirBnb. It was a cute apartment, in the middle of La Havana, very close to everything. Each morning we would wake up and walk around and find a cute little spot for breakfast. After that we would walk around in Old Havana, go to museum, sigh seeing or to the beach.
We want to El Malecon during sunset and I got some great shots. We would come here in the evening, this is when the locals gather to dance, enjoy music, and have some street foods and drinks. At night we walk to Parke Central for dinner and drinks. If you’re looking to go to Cuba for luxury this is not the place, however if you’re looking for something different, Cuba is the place. This country is filled with beautiful architecture , classic cars, beautiful beaches and great people.
